Slief House
The former home of Minnie Slief served as the Cheyenne Library. When the new library was erected, the Slief House, one of the oldest buildings in town, was moved to the park.
The Slief House Museum houses Miss Minnie Slief's memorabilia and a step back in time to the 1930s era.
The Slief House Museum was originally the home of Minnie Slief, a well-known businesswomen in Roger Mills County. She owned and operated the Slief-Vaughn Abstract Company. Miss Minnie through her estate gave the City of Cheyenne her home and lots where she lived to be used as the library for the community.
When the Library Board built a new Library building, the Historic RMC Preservation Foundation acquired the Slief House - which was one of the oldest homes in the town of Cheyenne. The home was moved to the Cheyenne City Park and opened in 1997 as the Minnie Slief Community Museum.
Today, the museum contains a vast collection of home items from the Pioneer era such as antique furniture, kitchen accessories, a telephone switch board, collection of vintage clothing and the contents of the Durham, OK Post Office, where HRMP Board Member Jr. Porter and his wife Lucille worked. Lucille was the Post Master General and Jr. was a rural route carrier for the Durham community for 45 years
